Join us for our holiday Mingle & Jingle event, featuring a three-day porcelain painting seminar, Wednesday-Friday, Dec 3-5, with your choice of one instructor: Nancy Bergman, Dee Ann Blevins or Randy Wollet. Learn interesting techniques that will enhance your porcelain painting. The event also includes the Museum Open House following the seminar on Saturday, Dec 6, 10a-2p with guided tours, Christmas shopping and painting activities.

Lunches, coffee & goodie bags provided at the seminar. Seminar selection is on a first come, first served basis. You will be notified by email which class you will be in. In the event a class is cancelled, we will issue a full refund. Additional porcelain, supplies and patterns can be purchased at the Museum shop. Research library available for use.

Class Descriptions

When you sign up, you will be asked your preference from 1 - 3 of the seminars you would like to attend. Here are the details of each seminar

 

NANCY BERGMAN: Poinsettia Luster

Luster and other techniques will be taught painting a poinsettia design on a vase.

Provided:

Vase options, synthetic brushes, luster, Turpenoid (Additional lusters and other products available for purchase.)

Supplies to Bring:

• Pictures of your favorite Poinsettia

• Luster Essence

• Non-ping, raise paste or similar products

• Water base medium for mixing powders

• Red Resist - water base – brush for resist

• Palette knife and mixing tiles

• Mini or micro brushes

• Funnel Pen – we can share, if

you do not have a pen.

• Pen and quill tip.

• Gold, Palladium, Copper, Etc.

• Face Mask – if you do not like the smell.

• Box or container to get wet items safely home to do last fire.

RANDY WOLLET: Victorian Couple in Winter

The Victorian couple is painted in monochrome on a coupe dinner plate that has 2 coats of Metallic White or White Cloud. This gives the background a little shimmer or sparkle.

Provided:

Dinner-size coupe plate with a coating of white metallic paint fired.

Supplies to Bring:

Low-odor mineral

spirits for brush

cleaner and

wiping out.

• Your own porcelain to practice metallic coating (optional)

• Painting medium

• Graphite tracing paper

• Brushes

• One color of paint (dark color: black, brown, black- green, dark blue, violet or iron). A darker color works better than a medium tone color.

 

DEE ANN BLEVINS: Snazzy Seahorse

This mixed media project uses luster, powdered china paints, propylene glycol, base for gold or non-ping, water based medium and pen work with three fires. You can use metallic powders and choose your colors. This is a fun project that is not difficult. It is both loose and detailed.

Provided:

Plate or additional options at discounted fee, Propylene glycol

Supplies to Bring:

• Red Resist

• Alcohol in a spray

bottle and two small

dishes, one for

alcohol and one for water

• Mop brush or a dry fluffy brush

• Wipe out tool

• paper towels

• Non-ping or base for gold

• Pouncer/Sponge

• Luster for the background

• 10-12” plate or round tile

• Graphite or Saral paper to trace pattern

• Regular palette (just in case we want oil-based paint)

• Brushes that have been cleaned of oil for the water-

based portion of painting

• Vials of powdered china paint (underwater colors for

sea life, including black)

• 2 or 3 vials of metallic colors

• Palette knife

• Water based medium, if you have some, or I will share

• Pen for outlining
